
Professional Staff, Pediatric Service in The Eye Institute
Dr. Scombordi-Raghu graduated from Temple University in 1994 with a bachelors degree in chemistry. She entered The Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1994 and received her Doctor of Optometry in 1998. She completed residency training in 1999 at The Eye Institute. Following her residency training, she joined a private practice in Brick, New Jersey. In 2001 she joined the professional staff at The Eye Institute.
Currently Dr. Scombordi is a staff member in the pediatric service at The Eye Institute where she provides care to infants, toddlers, and children. Her practice in The Eye Institute includes the diagnosis and treatment of vision problems of children, including amblyopia, strabismus, and learning related vision problems. Dr. Scombordi-Raghu does classroom and laboratory teaching in the optometry curriculum at The Pennsylvania College of Optometry. In addition, she has participated in several federally funded clinical research grants.
For the past 4 years Dr. Scombordi has served as the Philadelphia Clinical Director for the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes Lions Club International Opening Eyes program. This program provides vision screenings, eye exams, and eye wear to athletes participating in the Special Olympics. Dr. Scombordi is also a consultant at the Woods School she provides vision and ocular health services to special needs adult and children.
