About Dr. Lewis:

Dr. James Lewis graduated from Princeton University and went on to study medicine at Thomas Jefferson Medical College, where he won awards in both ophthalmology and research. After completing his ophthalmology residency at Duke University Eye Center in North Carolina, where he served as chief resident during his third year, Dr. Lewis continued his fellowship training in Corneal and Refractive Surgery in Adelaide, Australia. In 2004, Dr. Lewis became the Director of Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery at The Eye Institute. He teaches LASIK, Corneal Surgery, and Cataract diagnosis and management to hundreds of eye doctors each year.

Dr. Lewis has lectured and is published extensively on Intraocular Lens Insertion without capsular support. He has also developed instruments for suture management in corneal transplantation. He lectures on microkeratome flap creation at the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, The World Ophthalmology Congress and the European Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
